Im just gonna spend a few minutes praising the greatness that is Joe Saunders. With most of our starting rotation injured and our bullpen (primarily Jepsen, who couldnt get me out at this point) blowing leads, Saunders has decided to put us on his back and is pitching amazing. After losing the first two games in Seattle we needed a win to avoid the sweep. So in steps Saunders and he delievered: 7 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 3 Ks.
After his success, a lot of fans were interested in seeing how he would fare this year. Was last year a fluke or was Saunders for real? Well three starts into the season, Saunders has become a bonafide ace. He doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but he’s consistent and doesn’t throw many balls or make mistakes. Once we get Lackey, Escobar and Santana (who by the way as gone all “Bartolo” on us and gotten fat) back were gonna be dangerous. Combine those three with Saunders and a newly confident Weaver and you’re looking at the best rotation in baseball.
